About the Administration

The administration of onWords is comprised of Coordinators and Editors, who work together with the members and Site Coordinator to ensure that the site runs smoothly and to provide the best experience for everyone. When members join, they are greeted by our Membership Coordinators. Each writing section has their own Writing Coordinator, and when something interesting is stumbled upon, it goes to the Resource Editor to add to the site. You can find more information about the Writing Coordinators from the home page.

Our Administrators

Site Founder - Joni Morris

Email: joni.emerald@gmail.com
Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Time in Position: April 2007 - Present

About Joni:

Having always felt an affinity for words and reading, Joni founded the Wheel of Time Role-Play in 2000 at the age of twelve, holding various positions until the site closed in 2007. In its place she founded onWords, hoping to continue some of the community that made the WoT RP so special. She is a constant blogger and computer tinkerer, and has had several of her poems published in local 'zines. She grew up in a small town in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada, and is pursuing a double major in Communication and English at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She is currently on exchange at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Fun Fact:

Joni went swimming in the ocean for the very first time on September 2nd, 2007 at Manly Beach!

Membership Coordinator - Donna Leslie

Email: orange_grove@comcast.net
Location: Natik, Massachusetts, USA
Time in Position: April 2007 - Present

About Donna:

Donna is a uniquely creative writer, painter, and photographer. She and Joni began role-playing within a week of one another, and was one of the original and tireless administrators at the Wheel of Time RP. Donna is a superbly caring woman, and is always ready with a quirky joke. Currently, Donna lives in her pink cottage in Boston with her husband and two cats. She has her Masters in Psychology from Boston University, is an accredited therapist, and works at a special care house.

Fun Fact:

Donna has two cats, Sophie and Newman.

Time in Position: April 2007 - Present

About Jeremy:

Perpetually cheerful, Jeremy is one of the younger members of the administration. He is a people-person, as well as a long-time member and administrator at the Wheel of Time RP. Always cooking up some kind of plot, Jeremy can be counted on for an interesting read any time. Our local Aussie, Jeremy lives in Sydney and is attending the University of Sydney pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience.

Fun Fact:

Jeremy will be picking Joni up from the Sydney airport in July. =D

Resource Editor - Taryn Leach

Email: taryn.leach@gmail.com
Location: Akron, Ohio, USA
Time in Position: April 2007 - Present

About Taryn:

Taryn has held several administrative positions at the WoT RP, and was the one who originally introduced us to the wonder of domain names. Taryn is creative and, above all else, organized--making her a perfect candidate for Resource Editor! A talented writer, she is recently married as of June 8 to her husband Mike, and lives in an apartment until her house is built in 3 months with her two cats (kids) Loki and Butters. Taryn currently works as a Help Desk Manager for the SchoolOne division in Akron. She hopes that with the wedding over and the house almost ready to begin building she can once more turn her attention to writing, which is one of her biggest passions (besides cheetahs, of course!)

Fun Fact:

Taryn's wedding had three other admins attending--two as bridesmaids, one as the "music coordinator"!

Administrative Structure

The administrators follow this basic setup:

  • The Site Coordinator is responsible for the general operations of the site, including:
    • Website, server, and forum maintenance;
    • Assisting and collaborating with the other administrators on general duties;
    • Facilitating administrator discussions and decision-making processes;
    • Mediating disputes between administrators and / or members; and
    • Executing and reporting the outcome of administrative decisions.
  • The Coordinators and Editors are responsible for the general operations of their section, including:
    • Moderating the forums relevant to their topic, encouraging activity in their forum and with their topic, and responding to a majority of postings in their forum in a timely fashion (if applicable);
    • Collaborating with other administrators to promote programs and activity in their forum.
    • The general administrative duties relevant to their topic; and
    • Collaborating and reporting to the other administrators and Site Coordinator regarding the development and progress of their section.

All administrators are expected to:

  • Uphold the values and objectives of the site;
  • Remain friendly and professional with the membership and other administrators;
  • Promote the site standards;
  • Perform their duties in a timely manner;
  • Keep the other administrators informed of their actions and the situation of their specialty; and
  • Contribute to the site's development.

All administrators are subjected to yearly evaluations (conducted each December / January). At this time, their performance in their position and overall as an administrator is examined by their peers and the Site Coordinator. If serious concerns are raised, action may be taken. Please go here to submit an evaluation for an administrator--remember that we like positive feedback as well as negative, and that criticism should be constructive.

Decision-Making

The process of decision-making amongst the administrators is a democratic one. An issue is raised, discussed, and then voted upon. The Site Coordinator usually facilitates these discussions, as well as voting, and may utilize her prerogative in general guidance for the site. To raise an issue for discussion, please contact one of the administrators.
