Hello everyone!
As an inaugural poetry writing challenge, I'd like to do something non-threatening and fun. This is an activity that one of my English teachers in high school adored, and has done with every single one of her classes... and for good reason, because it's always enjoyable and rewarding! The most difficult thing that I've ever found has been doing it with a group of people, but that won't be an issue here.
The Challenge
Using the words provided in the PDF document I've attached to build your own poem. Use ONLY the words in the document, and you may only use each of them once. The poem may be as long or as short as you like, and in any form. Take a picture of your creation or transcribe your poem and share it with the rest of us!
After you've done that first poem, feel free to extrapolate--fill in words where you want, write something inspired by one of your lines, or whatever your heart desires. Share that with us, too!
I myself will give the challenge a go tonight and see what I can come up with. In the meantime, here's a poem that we created a couple years ago with the same activity:
Boring life screamed
Watermelons birds yellow lilies
Days ripple by
Searching for a sign
The tall handsome waiter dazzled me
Rush of confidence
Dusty thoughts
that night’s kiss
loud feelings
Running together forever
We are Us
won’t ridicule yet
She is left independent
summer dances away
That said... enjoy! I look forward to seeing what gets created!
